Clean Tahoe has been the coordinator of California Coastal Cleanup Day at the Lake for a decade. The event is sponsored statewide by the California Coastal Commision each September.

Groups of volunteers clean and selected list of beaches and waterways, keeping track on data cards of the trash and recycables they collect. This information is then forwarded to the Coastal Commision and the Ocean Conservancy for inclusion into a data base which helps them target areas of environmental concern and create educaiotional materials to campaign for a cleaner Tahoe.
